It was kind of funny that this week Carter and Will's teams both played Olympus! And some of these boys on the Olympus team were BIG! Much taller than our guys! However, our team was prepared and ready to go!
Will had the opportunity to play middle linebacker in this game. He player a bit of center on the offense too. But I really think this defensive side of the ball is agreeing with him! He is loving it! He still has some learning to do but considering he's never played this position I think he's doing awesome! This is a picture of one of his tackles as a linebacker. Not a great tackle, but he stopped him!
The other thing he enjoys with being the middle linebacker is that he is responsible for learning the defensive hand signals from the coach. He learns the signals and then passes on the coaches instruction to the other defensive players. He LOVES this! The picture above he is getting his "signals" from coach.
Here is another tackle he was in on! And I tell ya, I am really not used to having to follow a kid around that is running to try and get a picture! It was tough to get good ones!
Carter was there to support along with A LOT of his fellow team members. There is 5 boys that have older brothers that play- really cool! And Carter offered to help with the chain gang... so nice of him!
I have had several parents point out to me that Will has matured a lot and seems to be faster than last year! I'll take that! And I actually agree with it too!
Our team played SOOOO well! It was a shutout and it was fun to watch!
And what's a little league game without cheerleaders! I am so glad that Brianne decided to do it again! She actually decided right after last season that she wanted to continue... I think it's in her blood now!
This is my favorite picture! I have to say that she is LOUD! I can always hear her over there cheering her guts out! I love it!
She is growing up into such a lovely young woman! She is a great leader too! She was asked to be co-captain this year which she was BEYOND excited about! She deserves it though... she works hard and knows ALL the cheers and always tries to be helpful and kind.
I am very proud of her! It's not an easy thing to go out and do, especially when she has challenges with doing cartwheels etc, but she always goes out and gives her best at what she CAN do!
And I have to say that I LOVE that the girls have these signs from our team as a backdrop! There's one for each player! I love them! And again..... I LOVE FOOTBALL!!

Alta vs Olympus JV/Varsity
This past week Alta High was playing Olympus. The JV game was at home and the Varsity was away. Carter starts on the JV and we knew this was going to be a good game for them.
We didn't know however that the Olympus team was going to come at us so strong! They were really coming at us, especially their defense, they were blitzing like crazy!
This is Carter running a trap- he moves so fast when he does this! It's awesome! And he had an amazing trap at the end of the game that got him a high five from his coach! AWESOME!
Here he is knocking that guy after the trap!
It was an ugly game with a lot of flags, but thankfully we came out on top in the end!
The Friday was the Varsity game. Carter had been told that he should get some playing time so he was so excited! In the 4th quarter I saw him start to warm up so I knew it was coming!
And out he went! It would have been sooner but this Olympus team came out after the half with some new tricks!
Carter did great! He's not thrilled with how his first play at varsity went because he tripped (a took a lot of joking from his coach about that) but other than that he did great!
Chan and I are truly just proud parents! We are thrilled that he has done so well!
I love how this picture turned out! He came and found us after the game and I was able to give him a quick fist pump and tell him good job before he got on the bus.
I hope the season slows down a bit so I can really savor each game! This is just plain FUN!!!

Another step...
Just when we think that the big steps regarding work life are over, another couple land in our lap. One we knew of and that was moving out of our warehouse. It was HUGE! Truly the pictures hardly show how really large it was! This is the office that was built inside. That back left corner was our warehouse managers office, the door to the right is a large conference room, the cabinetry housed all our supplies, the counter top to the right was where shipping took place and all the other space here was once where we ticketed our items. In the last year it was where our companies office was and they were running the web sites from here. Before that there was an office out at the airport as well.
This is the bulk of the space- the area with the doors is that office pictured above. There was pallet shelving as well as other metal shelving filling this space as well as a wood shop in the rear. There was also a small room at the front that had two restrooms off of it.
This was a shot of Chan going out with the fork lift for the last time.
He gave us a parade wave as he went by! It took SO MUCH time to empty this place! All of us had to participate to get it done and it was filthy!! Imagine cleaning your garage and multiply that by 1000! So much STUFF! And a lot had to be moved to another storage facility, but the bulk of it was sold to various people/companies.
Toward the end we just started pulling our cars right in! This is Tom's truck and he was loading it with scrap metal pieces.
I didn't help through the entire process because a lot of it HAD to be done with Tom and Kathy because they had to approve to throw out, sell, keep etc. Carter worked out there for 2 1/2 weeks of his summer doing a LOT of hard stuff. He would come home sweaty, dirty and sore! I would take him out there and every time I went I was always shocked at how quickly it was emptying out.
This company came a couple of times and we loaded up their trailer with items and they bought them from us and then turn around a re-sell it. It's hard to believe that it was just a year ago that we closed the stores. Given how much was in there after all that was said and done I am truly impressed we were able to get out of there so soon. They have rented a new small office closer to home and are currently moving in and getting settled.
The other change to land in our lap was our future plans. Chan had been offered a job and we had been planning for him to start that job after he finishes assisting getting the new restaurants open. He expected to start in November. Well, we found out about a week ago that there is no job now. They decided to go in a different direction and not hire anyone for the time being. We were so not ready for that news! He thought he was going in to find out how much money he was going to make and walked out shocked. However, I will hand it to my hubby because he is handling it SO great! He is focused on finishing his current position out to the end and will then start knocking on doors to find something else. He feels very confident that he will find something quickly. I am trying my best to take cues from him and to stay positive. It's not easy... to say the least! But I am trying to stay optimistic given I know my husband and his talents AND he has great connections. Until then... we wait and see!

First day of school 2012!
I seriously can't believe how quickly the summer went! Here we are back to the school routine! Carter was surprisingly awake given he has early morning seminary! But he jumped right into his pose showing he's in 11th grade! Yikes! Such a handsome young man right!
I'm so proud of Carter! He worked really hard this summer around his football schedule to earn some money and he used that money to buy himself some clothes and shoes he REALLY wanted. This first day outfit was entirely purchased by him! He did a great job too- he looked really nice! The only thing that will make school better for him is for him to be able to drive himself! He is really hoping it will be sooner than later (me too)!!
Will is starting 8th grade this year! And he is going through a growth spurt- it feels like every time I turn around he is taller! He is also filling out a bit and looking older (and cuter too!)
Will chose his first day outfit too and I think he did pretty good- hey it matches right! Haha! I had to buy him almost an entirely new wardrobe! He had grown out of almost everything! This will be his last year in middle school, hard to believe!
Brianne was super sick her first day of 5th grade, actually her first week! I felt so bad for her! Given how yucky she felt she still looked super cute her first day! We had fun getting new shirts and shoes for her and she has quite a bit to choose from :)
Unfortunately she only made it to two days of school her first week, but thankfully she is feeling a LOT better! This will be her last year in elementary school! That is NUTS! I am getting OLD! But she is SO excited for this year! She got a new teacher in a portable and is very excited to play with all her friends again. She and I also made a deal that if she does well in school and gets a great review at the first parent teacher conference then she can start wearing mascara. She was ecstatic! So we'll see!!! Good luck Brianne!

Rivalry DAY!
Last Saturday was a super busy one! It was football ALL DAY! We started out with a pre-season game for Will at Cottonwood. These are always fun and a great way for them to find out what they need to work on.
It was a very evenly matched game! Our boys were playing great but so was Cottonwood!
When I arrived (after helping feed the varsity team at the high school) I could hear Will yelling for huddle on the field! I love how loud my kids are! Hilarious! It was another super hot day too! Thanks to some friends I was able to sit in some shade under a HUGE umbrella! :0)
Will played a bit at center as well as middle linebacker! I was thrilled to see him trying out that new position on the defense. I can tell he LOVES it!
The game was a bit of a nail biter and there was definitely some things that they needed to work on, but they were playing great! It came down to the end with the teams going into over time!
Brianne and her friend Taylor decided to cheer for the game, so they went on out there and cheered their guts out! They were pretty dang cute!
Thankfully, in the end they pulled out the win by keeping Cottonwood out of the end zone! I was super proud and I am REALLY excited to see this team continue on! They are great kids!
I snapped this shot as we were leaving- I am one lucky gal! I love my family! :)
After Will's game we only had a couple hours before the big Bingham rivalry game, so we decided to just go out to dinner and so we went to Cheesecake Factory. Isn't it funny how they both pulled the same face in this picture! Goof balls!
After dinner we went straight up to the University of Utah stadium for the big game! This rivalry is so huge they literally CAN'T have it at the high schools anymore, so that's why they started doing it at the U. It's awesome!
Carter was just stoked to be there! He sent us texts from the U locker room and was in awe. He was truly savoring every minute!
I got these few pictures of the lineman out there warming up. Funny too because they didn't look "small" out there. Kinda freaked me out a bit!
This was the team as they were coming out to start the game!
They came up with this new thing that they do before every game. They get into a "Michigan Circle" and chant and then come in together before breaking up to start the game. I love that I was able to zoom in on Carter!
This team is very close! They literally are like a brotherhood. I love that!
This is one of the pictures Carter text us before the game. He was so excited to be out there on that field! I hope it gives him motivation to play in college! He really wants to get there someday!
Even though Carter didn't get to play himself, he didn't care!! It was an AMAZING game and Alta pulled out a win by 1 point!!!! The first time they have won in 4 years! I got this picture after picking Carter up from the bus and I loved that he was sporting his rivalry hat! You would have thought he scored all the points himself he was so amped!! I am proud of our guys for playing a clean game and pulling out the win! It was a great day to be a HAWK!!

Alta vs Bingham JV
This is a big week... the rivalry week!! Carter had the first game against Bingham playing the JV game on Thursday.
He was chosen to be one of the captains, which was a great surprise, and it made it even better to be with two great friends Tanner and Max.
It was a great game and we could tell that they were going to dominate!
Carter played a great game! It was a SUPER hot day and without my umbrella I am sure I would have melted! I was glad they had TONS of water!
I was impressed with the JV that day, they played great defense and their offense was on too!
They played a great game and got the win! The HUGE varsity game was coming up on Saturday and they were ready! Bring it!!
