Golf Camp

Another thing we've been doing this summer is Will and Brianne did a golf camp at Willow Creek Country Club! Papa Tom invited them to participate along with their cousin Dakota and they learned a lot! Brianne's favorite thing was putting! She was really quite good at it- she has great form!! :)
Brianne has been wanting to try her hand at golf for quite a while and she really enjoyed it! She may even continue to practice and improve some more!
Will is just a flat out HAM in this picture!! He has also wanted to try golf and did pretty well!
The most important thing is they gave it a try and enjoyed learning all about the game. Their last day they got to play about 5 holes on the course and rode on a cart with their instructor- they LOVED that part!
And you just can't beat the incredible views from this course! It is not far from our home and is really quite breathtaking! It's an amazing course and the grounds are just as beautiful! Thanks Papa for inviting us!! We loved it!!

A week or so ago we decided to go to Lagoon with just our little family, but at the last minute also invited Dakota- that made us an even 6- which is a better number when it comes to going on rides! We had so much fun I thought I'd share some of the pics! :)

Alta Stud

I forgot to add this picture in the earlier post about Snow Camp- this is a shot of Carter right after we returned home and discovered our flag had fell and we all ran over to it to get it off the ground and Carter struck this pose!! Had to get a shot of it! Hilarious!!

Snow Camp

Shortly after we returned from San Diego Carter left along with about 180 other boys to go to football camp at Snow College. The camp is for the high school players and he has been working out with them for the past couple of months. He decided after last season to make a goal to try out for the Sophomore team this year. We encouraged him along the way and took him to TONS of workouts in the off season and he was feeling great!
I love this picture! He always stands like this! When I am having a hard time finding him on the sidelines- I look for his feet! Anyway, getting back to camp....... so sign ups for this camp began back in May with a parent meeting. They discussed the team philosophy, fundraising, team workouts, etc etc etc! They laid it all out, but the only question I had for the coaches was, "as a Freshman, will you be honest at the end of camp and tell him/us if he can play or if you think he will be better off playing Junior ball (last year of little league)." Their answer was YES, they would be honest. So I figured it was a win-win situation! If he gets to play up- great, if not- he will have learned a lot and the coaches will tell him what to do to better himself! Sounds great! So we signed him up!
He left on a Tuesday evening and went down on a school bus along with all the high school boys from Sophomore to the Varsity players. They were all assigned rooms with other players in the dorms and they were there for 4 days. They were not allowed ANY electronic devices!! No ipod, phone etc because the focus is on team unity! (YES- this was VERY tough on me- didn't sleep much)
He was one of about 6 boys who decided to go as a Freshman- and he was VERY excited and a bit nervous. But we knew he would have fun and we couldn't wait to go down on Saturday to see him. All the parents were encouraged to come and watch the scrimmages with the other high schools there and to pick up your son and take him home. The last pics above are of him in those games. They played three and won all of them!
It was amazing to see him out there playing with the team and doing what he loves! Chan was definitely a proud Papa that day! (And yes, I was a VERY proud Mom)
Will and Brianne came too and they got to play with some of their friends that were there as well. I think they were pretty impressed with their brother!
I forgot to mention that his number in the pictures is 91- and all the boys are wearing practice jerseys right now, so it's kind of difficult to tell who is who!
This is a shot of all the boys who were playing with the Sophomore Alta team- the boys in white jerseys were offense and black were defense. In high school here you don't play both.
This is the shot of him as the coaches from Snow College were talking to all the high schools. Shortly after this picture was taken Chan and Carter went to "check him out" of his dorm and to speak to the Head Coach and to our delight the Coach wants Carter to play!! There is 5 starting offensive lineman and he is number 6!!! (as of right now- that can always change) but we were thrilled!!!! SO PROUD!! We left the ultimate decision to Carter and after about a week of prayer and contemplation he has decided to play up. My boy will be playing at Alta High School this year! WOW! It just goes to show that hard work pays off!! Way to go Carter!!!! We love you!!

Happy Birthday Myles!!

This past week on July 6th it was my Nephew Myles Birthday Party at Lagoon! it's definitely one of our FAVORITE spots in the summer and we were VERY excited to spend the day with him there and watch his face on all the kiddie rides!
We found this great little spot over in Pioneer Village to have some lunch and eat cake! We had already been out on some rides and we were having a blast! Myles was going from one ride to another with a huge grin and enjoying every one!
It's also fun to watch my kids with him! They all adore him and love to carry him around and Brianne was the real lucky one because she was still short enough to go on a lot of the kiddie rides with him! I think bumper cars was one of the favorites!
Brianne is in this shot with her arms up and Brooke and Myles were in front of her- his first roller coaster! WOO HOO!
I can totally remember taking my kids on some of these when they were his age and them making these same faces! Amazement, wonder, laughing, smiling- just plain FUN!!
This one was a bit rough- Mark said he was struggling with the raft the entire ride to keep from tipping over! But I don't think Myles had a clue- he was in pure bliss!
Gamma and Papa came too and went on a few rides with us! Papa was pretty adventurous and even went on Lagoon's scariest coaster called Wicked! He loved it of course! It was Chan's first time on that too and he kept his eyes closed the first go-round so we went again and that time he saw the whole thing! SOOOO FUN!!!
This is Gamma's favorite ride and we decided to make it a boys vs girls on screaming- so this is a shot of the boys before we went on. (Um yeah, I don't know why my nephew Dakota can't just be normal in pictures!!) And on the girls team it was myself, Gamma, Annie and Brianne (and I totally think WE won! Hee hee)
I asked Chan to take a few shots of us on the white roller coaster as we were heading out but he got picture happy and decided to take some action shots!
This one of Brianne and me was my favorite! So fun!!
But I got to hand it to Carter and Gerardo- they were the most adventurous of the bunch! They went on The Catapult!! Carter has been talking about it for a while, but this time his mouth got him in trouble because Papa ponied up the money to DO IT! So..... off they went......
Yup- that little dot in the sky is MY KID!!! He is just plain crazy!! And this picture doesn't even do it justice!! But he loved it of course and we got a hilarious video of them in there!! I want to try and get it on here- totally worth seeing!! but all in all it was a very fun birthday celebration!! Thanks for inviting us Myles and Happy 3rd Birthday!! We love you!!

Summer Vacation 2010!

This year it was time to do another family reunion with Chan's Mom side of the family! So as in years past we all met in San Diego on Mission Beach! It was a blast! We had a great time seeing everyone, visiting, seeing Sea World, playing on the beach and visiting some more! The weather was overcast quite a bit, but we did get a couple days of sun but had a great time anyway! There's nothing better than family and fun! I posted a HUGE slide show of SOME of the pictures I took of all the happenings! Hope you enjoy it!
