HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!

It's Halloween Time!! This is a fun time of year! I can remember looking forward to it just like my kids do! I love taking them out trick or treating and watching them get excited over getting a "full size" candy bar or getting to pick their own! It's also fun to see how the people at the doors react to their costumes etc- it's a fun holiday! This year we went to our neighborhood trunk or treat and we decorated the truck and even had a spooky CD on to make it even scarier!!
Thanks heavens for AC adapters!! I brought my light up gourds to decorate my truck with! It was fun! Then the next day it was trick or treating time! We spent Halloween with Chan's family (it's tradition)- eating his Mema's chili recipe and going out trick or treating with their cousins. I shot some pictures of my kids before we left for Brooke's house.
Brianne was Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz and our Dog Teddy made the perfect Toto! (But no I did not take him with us!)
So cute! All the way down to the sparkling red shoes!
Will is in LOVE with Iron man!! He's a HUGE fan of the movies, so this was an easy pick for him. The best part.... his costume is actually just a toy from the store! So he can continue to play with it all year! Yay!
Watch out! He might get you!
Carter decided to raid our Halloween container and see what we had in there and he found this costume that I bought him 3 years ago- it's a Ghostbuster costume!
Got the pack and all- he's ready to get those ghosts!
There's just nothing better than a Ghostbuster! I love that he wanted to dress up and go out with his family! We were excited to hit the road!
Here's a shot of them with their cousins Dakota- the rasta guy, Myles- Spiderman and Sophie- a snow leopard! The weather here didn't cooperate too well so we weren't out too long. but we are definitely enjoying the candy! YUM!! Happy Halloween y'all!

Football update for week of October 30th

So this game is a BIGGIE! The players decided they wanted to do a "Blackout" which is basically wearing all black!!They wanted to LOOK tough and they did!! Gramma Kathy came to watch the game so I got this cute shot of her with Brianne :)
Papa Tom came too and so did their cousin Dakota. We had quite the gang to cheer and we needed it! This game was a big one because we needed to win in order to get the spot we wanted in the playoffs.
Our team started out and was on fire!! By the half we were winning by two touchdowns and it seemed that it was going to be the same for the second half.

The second half was VERY different! You can tell what I mean by looking at the faces in this picture! It was INTENSE!! The Cottonwood team came back hard and got 2 touchdowns as well- so it was quite a fight!
In the last few seconds of the game we had the ball and had enough time to get in ONE play. The ball snapped and our quarterback took a knee........ huh?........I was confused?.........Until, I heard one of our parents say that our first touchdown we had gone for a two point conversion and GOT it! So........
WE WON by ONE point!!!! YAY!!!! I loved this shot! Will picked up his friend Wade! So cute!
The next thing I see is one of Will's coaches running over to the boys wearing this Santa suit!! It was his way of celebrating with the boys and it's also motivation for them because he said he'd wear it again if they won next week! So cool!
So here we come playoffs!! Can't wait!! BRING IT ON!! GO HAWKS!!

Coincidence?

Back when Carter was starting the season with the Sophomores he went to pick up his gear and was given a helmet, pads etc and was told to go to another room to pick out some pads. He walked in and picked up the first set that looked to be the right size and they fit perfectly- after he took them off he noticed what was written on them..... coincidence? I THINK NOT! Hee hee!

Football update for week of October 23rd

This was a bitter sweet week for Carter! It was the final week of practice and his last game! He started practicing back in May so I suppose it's been long as for as THAT goes, but this week was his 9th and final game and his team was still undefeated! So on they came to play against Pleasant Grove!
Since it was the final game and there have been SEVERAL Sophomore players that hadn't seen hardly ANY playing time- Carter was hopeful but not counting on playing. But we were VERY pleased to see him get in there!! This Pleasant Grove team was GOOD!!
They went into the half SCORELESS and even went into the 3rd quarter a bit before they FINALLY scored! Once that happened it was like someone had flipped a switch because after that his team was ON FIRE!!
They went on to score 4 touchdowns in the final minutes of the game!
I was so glad I got this shot! That is Carter's head coach giving him a high five! He did very well- like I said, these guys were very tough!
I have been tickled many times watching from the stands and even had a "bit" of water works watching him play! I am so proud of him and his accomplishments! Chan and I have helped him along the way, but him being a big part of this team was solely due to HIS hard work! He's already thinking about goals for next year!
This is a fuzzy shot but I HAD to include it! This is their head coach doing a cartwheel on the field in the 4th quarter! He was coming off after a time out and was hooting and hollering! LOVED it!!
Then in the last few minutes of the game Coach Cassiday was drenched in water! And it was NOT warm on that day!! Final score 28 to 0!!
Here's a shot of the Alta Sophomore Football team 2010- UNDEFEATED!!! Carter is over on the left side :)
Here we are with Carter- he was almost dying of embarrassment but managed to let us get a picture thanks to his Grandparents! (thanks Tom and Kathy) And Yes- he's almost as tall as his Dad.....WOW! Way to go Carter!! Can't wait for next year!!
Will's team also had a big week! They are 4th right now in their league and needed a good win to stay in the standing for playoffs and since we knew the weather was going to take a turn and be COLD and WET we knew it would be an interesting game! On top of that I forgot my camera (which I NEVER do) but thanks to my handy phone I got a couple of shots!
This picture is a bit deceiving because it looks rather sunny but it WASN'T and it was COLD! We played Kearns Green and again these boys were pretty darn big! We started right out of the box and got a touchdown and they followed suit- all tied up. Then later they got a touchdown but no extra point-we're behind. It stayed this way till 4th quarter where we KNEW we had to bring it!!
Thankfully we got a GREAT run and got in for a touchdown and the extra point! We were ahead by ONE with just a few minutes left in the game! So in goes the defense and DOWN COMES THE RAIN!! It was pouring and we held firm and won!! It was a great game! Just the kind you want to see! So I'll have to check the standings now- hopefully we are in!! Way to go HAWKS!!

Football update for week of October 16th

I took advantage of my cute in-laws being at the game and had them take a shot of us after the game and it turned out cute! So proud of Will and how he is playing this season!
This is a shot of the team before the game began. This week they played Hunter and these guys were BIG!! They had 9 X-men on their team! That's almost HALF the team!! The first half we held our own and did get a touchdown but no extra point. The other team had two touchdowns, so we weren't out of the game yet!
It was a tough one! We fought as hard as we could but their size made it tough and our guys were just plain worn out!!
We fought to the end but ended up losing the game- I can't remember the final score (I must be too upset to recall- hee hee) but our boys walked away with their heads high because they played well.
I included this shot because you can see how big these kids were- that #33 is just as tall as the referee behind him!! The refs are ADULT men!! Seriously they were HUGE!! I have to hand it to Will- he played great and never got frustrated!! I am very proud of him and his team!!

Carter's team was supposed to play Hillcrest this week but we found out about a week prior to the game that they didn't have enough players to field a JV and a Sophomore team. Initially they were going to have their JV team play BOTH games, but the day before they changed their mind and forfeited the Sophomore game. Carter was bummed! But they played a scrimmage against our own JV team yesterday and beat them by ONE point!! This was a VERY big deal!! our JV team is better than our Varsity team right now!! It was awesome!! This week they play Pleasant Grove and it's their last game :( it went too fast!! More to come!!

Brianne's surgery #2 and Fall Recess Fun!

This past Monday Brianne had her second surgery on her knees! It's been 6 months since the first one when the plates were put in her knees to correct the slight knock kneed issue. We went recently for her follow up and her knees had responded beautifully and it was time to get them out! We were excited and nervous but sooo glad that all went as planned. This is a shot of her in the waiting area right before she went in for the surgery.
And this is her in the recovery room! She did sooo great and has been doing fantastic all week! She was up and walking the first day and has hardly had any pain at all! We're so grateful and thrilled that she is doing so well! This week was a short week due to Fall Break on Thursday, Friday and Monday so it was perfect timing! I stayed home with her the first part of the week and we've been playing games, watching movies and painting our nails to pass the time. Yesterday she was getting a little anxious so one of her friends came over to hang out with her and play games- which was very nice! But today she was finally ready to venture out so...
Will suggested we go out for breakfast! I can never say no to a yummy breakfast! So off we went to IHOP for some good food!
We did feel bad that Chan couldn't come- darn work! But it was fun to get out and Brianne LOVED this special they are doing for October! It's a decorate your own smiley face pancake! FUN!!
Don't you just love the way she made the eye's "bleed" with the strawberry syrup! Too funny!
Then after breakfast I decided it would be fun to go and pick up some pumpkins at a pumpkin patch! There's one close by and it's very small- so not too much walking for Brianne.
I couldn't miss an opportunity for some great pictures! I had Will plop down in the middle of the patch for this one!
For being such a small patch they had some GREAT pumpkins and other fall decor!
Carter is getting a little "grown up" for this, but thankfully he still accommodates me with a smile!
I thought this corn was awesome!
Here's a shot of Brianne- you can see her knees all wrapped up but doesn't she look great!! :)
Fall is just the best time of year! Love the smells and look of fall and all it has to bring! Thanks kids for a fun day- and Brianne for a fun week of "Mom time"!
