October Spruce Up!

In the spring and fall I ALWAYS get a major need to clean!! I will de-junk drawers, go through closets, sell unused items, touch up paint etc etc! And even though it wears me out for a few weeks I am ALWAYS glad I did it!
Over the years I have also drastically tapered down on decorations! I only have a few things for the holidays, with exception of Christmas. I still have quite a bit of that! Haha! I have decided that the piano will be my "seasonal decor" area. I have a new craft that Brianne and I are working on to go here all year round. Pictures to come when it is done...
This was one area I changed. I was tired of what I had on top of my buffet so I took most of it to DI (with exception of the good silver stuff) and moved some items around until I got my desired look :) I didn't buy anything new, just shuffled things around that I already had.

We also got these new stools from Chan's Grandparents. They used to be in his parents home years ago and have been passed along! They are very nice and much more comfortable to sit on. But we needed more space around the island for them so I took the floor rugs out of the kitchen. I think it looks nice :) They also gave me the picture that is hanging by the window. It's a pastel drawing and painting that I did of lake powell YEARS ago! They even have a photo of me at lake powell doing the drawing. I thought it was sweet of them to let me have it back. It's a priceless memory!

I also FINALLY painted behind the stove! YAY! It didn't take long to paint, but it did take long to CLEAN! It was super nasty under there! But I am glad I did it! These little spruce ups help keep our home up to date and CLEAN! And for anyone that knows me well this is a MUST! I can't have a dirty house! Yuck!

Crafting!

A few weeks ago I went to the Wood Connection with two of my besties Kelly and Jennie. I have been wanting to go for a long time! There is a football door hanging that I have wanted to make for years and so I was going to get one to make! Plus spending time with friends is always a blast!
Here is my finished door hanging! I love it! I was going to distress the sides a bit but forgot- so I may still do that! We'll see! It's supposed to have a big "U" or "Y" in the center but I wanted it to be universal since I have an Alta player too, so I just painted laces in the center. :) However, I made it during the Utah vs Oregon game and Utah just SMASHED them! It was insane! They beat them IN OREGON!! We were all so excited to tell Carter all about it! Haha! It was a BIG win! We even out out our light up "U" in the window of the house to celebrate! Haha!

Not totally sure what Brianne Snapchat was supposed to say there?.... I know it is "when your "family" is Utah (and I think it should say)... fans!" Funny!

While I was there I saw these wood crafts, paper and pedestals etc and I couldn't resist getting that to make too! And I'm glad I grabbed it because Brianne wanted to craft with me so she made this while I made the door hanging! She painted all the pieces and then used mod podge to put the cute paper designs on either side.
She did a great job and I LOVE it! I will put this out with my fall harvest & Thanksgiving decorations after Halloween. I'm not a huge Halloween decoration person, in fact most of my holiday decor is slim except for Christmas. I just don't have the time and/or space for a lot! I've decided that the top of my piano will serve as my holiday area. I rearranged everything else that was there to accommodate it! I'm excited! :)

Bingham Ball?.... Why YES!

This last week there was a knock at the door late at night and none of us heard it. A few minutes later Will got a text from a friend asking if he'd heard the knock, to which he replied "no", so she said to go to the door. He opened it and this is what he found out there! Not the best photo (sorry) because I stole it from his Snapchat again! It's better than nothing I guess! Anyway, it was treats, an in and out burger with fries and his favorite drink from Swig along with a poster asking him to go to the Bingham Ball! It was given to him by a friend he works with at Swig named Hannah and they are great friends! Will was super excited! Obviously she doesn't go to Alta- she attends Bingham High School- but it doesn't matter! It sounds like a VERY nice dance! It's formal and will be at the capitol building downtown.
So today we had to "answer" her request! Even thought she basically already knows he's going to go! I even talked to her about it at Swig when I went to grab a drink with Brianne! She is a VERY cute girl! Anyway, this is what we came up with thanks to Pinterest! I thought it was clever and easy to do! She loved it and is very excited to go with Will! It's not until November so... to be continued! :)

Alta vs Spanish Fork

This week our Alta boys played Spanish Fork. Thankfully, Thirsdays game was a home game, otherwise I may not have made it there! Spanish Fork is NOT close to us! It's a good 50 minute drive WITHOUT traffic! And we were glad they came up for the JV game too!
They decided that they would play after the Sophomore game that night and that they would have a running clock. So in actuality they only played about a half of a game. It was a little weird, but hey at least we got to play! Will had a good game! He had a few big tackles like this one above. He also had a couple big misses- but it's all a part of the game! Got to learn!
I was surprised to see that Will had switched his gloves. He's had these cutters for a while but hasn't worn them in the games. This is NOT like Will! He is very superstitious and doesn't usually make big changes so I actually thought he forgot his other ones or something, but that wasn't the case. he had just switched it up!
This picture was a GREAT tackle! He starts the tackle here....
And finishes it here! He DOVE into this guy!!! :) It was awesome! It was a strange game and not a lot going on offensively until the end, but they pulled out a win! Woo hoo!
On Friday we had to travel all the way to Spanish Fork for the Varsity Game. We left at 5pm because we were worried about traffic since there was also a BYU game that night in Provo. Thankfully, the traffic wasn't bad after the point of the mountain and we got there early!
The first half of this game was not good for us. We couldn't get our offense going AT ALL! And our defense was spending so much time on the field that they were getting tired! We were only down by three at the half so we had a chance to redeem ourselves!
Thankfully that's exactly what happened! After the half we came out playing MUCH better and our offense finally found their groove! We ended up winning the game 24 to 10! Will did a great job on special teams too! Love our Alta Hawks family!!
We are so proud of Will and just LOVE spending family time supporting him! This time is truly precious!

YW Temple Service

This week I had the privledge of going to the temple with our youth to do a service project. This time of year the grounds keepers have A TON of flowers and bulbs to plant. The day we came they had over 7000 plants to get in the dirt!

This week had been SOOOO HOT and I was worried that we were going to roast while planting. But thankfully the skies were overcast because a rain storm was on it's way in! And it was cooler that day too! Yay!
We had a pretty good turnout of kids given it was literally right after school got out! The grounds crew quickly got out kids together and told them what to do! They gave them shovels and off we went!
Being a leader I was there to supervise more than I was to plant, but honestly I was enjoying just being on the grounds. I just love the temple and the spirit there. It was also fun to see partons coming and going in to the temple that would smile and thank the kids for their service. A few even took pictures of them! I thought it was sweet!
Brianne is not the BEST person to get to do yard work, especially planting, it is not her thing! But she did a good job!
I was just proud of her for going! And we had a fun time! And all those plants and bulbs were planted in about 40 minutes! Can you believe that! The grounds crew was shocked! THAT is a great group of helpers!! Youth are where it's at!!
