Alta High Playoff Game

On Friday night we had to get out to the high school playoff game against Riverton. Even though Carter is not playing it was still important to us to support the team and his friends that are playing. This is a great team and they came out UNITED! It was amazing to watch them! I told Carter you could FEEL how ready they were and it showed!
Even though it was SUPER cold we managed to have a fun time! Will and his buddies were enjoying hanging out together!
I took this picture right as one of our defensive players intercepted the ball! If you look real closely you can see Carter just to the right of the gatorade jugs :)
One thing I had to add is this picture of the poster I made. One of Carter's team mates had a bad accident down at Lake Powell over fall break and I made this poster and brought it to the team dinner for the players to sign. I took it over to their home and put it up on the door before the game. He was still in the hospital when I took it, but I wanted him to know that his team loves him and was dedicating that game to him. It's real sweet to see what these boys wrote to him! He is doing better but has a long road to recovery. I am sure that Friday's win had a lot to do with winning for Elijah! Way to go guys! Bring it on Syracuse! We'll be ready!

Alta Black vs Copper Hills

Copper Hills was a much anticipated game. Not only was it our last regular season game, but we were going into it undefeated and so were they. We BOTH wanted the win real bad!
This team was NOT lacking in size! They had some big boys and not all of them were on the line! We came out playing strong from the start and by the 2nd quarter were up 14 to 0. We were playing great and doing exactly what we wanted, we weren't perfect, but doing well.
By the end of the 2nd quarter Copper Hills began to play cheap. They were talking a lot of trash and trying their best to get us to make a mistake. Those kids were egging our guys on and trying to frustrate them. It didn't work... I will admit that a couple of the boys were starting to retaliate but our coach quickly told them to knock it off and we were back to our standard of play. But they were relentless with their efforts of cheap behavior for the remainder of the game.
It's unfortunate because we had every reason to respect them and their team until they started to behave so badly. Even the parents on the sidelines were making rude comments. I will never understand that behavior! I find it in such bad taste!! What are you teaching your kids by behaving that way? I really don't get it! You should have your head held high regardless of the scoreboard! And playing like that certainly isn't going to better your chances! Ugh!
It was difficult, but I am very proud of our team and the way they conducted themselves. They are all great kids and really did their best to make their coaches and parents proud. They ended the season with another win which made it an undefeated season! Woo hoo! There is a very good chance they will see this team again but for now it's onto the playoffs! Riverton is in our sights!!

Zombie cheer 2012

Every year on the game before Halloween the cheerleaders dress up as Zombie Cheerleaders! It's a fun tradition and they love it! I was a little bummed that it was SO COLD! It was an early morning game and it was only in the 30's! Brrrrrrr!
The girls didn't seem to mind though! Once the sun came out it warmed up a bit and they were able to cheer and not be too cold!
They also do a thriller dance for half time! It's something they learned a while ago and continue to do every year!
They were awesome! And looked so great!
 Friend Zombies! Hee hee!
It was super fun to watch them! And it's even more fun to see people react when they see them! Especially the opposing team! They never expect it! Happy Halloween game girls! Woo Hoo!

Alta Black vs Bingham

I found it funny that we ended up playing Bingham over the fall break! That is a BIG rivalry game! But thankfully we didn't have any guys out of town and they had a great practice week so they were ready! Carter and I even got in on the half time streamer action! (and a high five!)
Bingham is always a tough opponent, always well prepared, but so were we!
Carter was giving a few tips here and there! Will really listens too! It was a great game and another win! So that means we are still undefeated going into our last regular season game! YAY!
The cheer team numbers were REALLY low! There was girls missing due to fall break, but the few that were there did an awesome job!
I could REALLY hear Brianne! I think she was being even LOUDER than usual! Haha!
And I had to get this lower shot in of her high kick! I will admit that the arms are not cute in this photo, but holy cow that girl is flexible with that leg! It's pretty awesome! Go Hawks!

Knee update

Well we went to hear the results from the MRI and it was actually a bit of good news! His knee joint and cartilage all looked really good! So what's the problem then? Well back in his 7th grade year playing football he had a subluxation of the knee cap and apparently when that happened a small piece of cartilage chipped off from under his knee cap and has been floating around in his joint! So, we will still have to have an arthroscopy of his knee to get the floating piece out and he also recommended doing a lateral release because the groove in his bone where the knee cap rests is very shallow. So by doing the release it relieves some of the pressure put on the knee cap and will make it less likely to slip in the future.  It wasn't what we thought he was going to say, but truly it was better news than we thought we were going to receive! So, we are getting a second opinion next Wednesday from Chan's knee surgeon, who is also a good friend to the family, and if he agrees then we will have him do the procedure as soon as possible. So it seems that the knee adventures of the Crismon family are continuing on! Good grief!

Seriously?!!... and more

I had to write a quick post about something I did a little over a week ago. It was a Thursday and I was scheduled to go at 1pm. I arrived at the high school on time and waited for Carter to join me in the media center. Then, shortly after, I sat there as the school counselors talked to the kids and parents about the process of choosing the classes for our kids senior year.................... Sigh................... SERIOUSLY??!! I am NOT this OLD!! I have a child that in less than a week will be choosing his SENIOR schedule! I am really getting freaked out! Add to that the wonderful change in General Conference about missionary age going to 18 and I am in the realization that Carter could be putting in papers for that before even touching a college campus. It's funny too because it REALLY doesn't seem that long ago that I was spending time with him reading book after book about tractors and trying to wean him off a pacifier! However, there is also a LOT of pride associated with all this shock. I am in awe of the young man he is becoming and I know that when he does go out into the world he'll be ready for it! I suppose I could work with him a bit better on doing his own laundry, but aside from that, he's good to go! I am sure over the next week we will be chatting over his choices for courses and I'm sure I'll push him a little toward things I think would be helpful. I am excited for him and I know that no matter what he gets he'll have an awesome year!

I figured I should also put in an update on his injury too. We took him to an orthopedic doctor over a week ago and he did the basic X rays and all those came back great. His knee on those could have been in a text book! But he could tell, because of the swelling, that there was more there. So he had us go in for an MRI on his knee. We are meeting with the doctor again tomorrow to get those results, but we are almost positive he has a torn meniscus. Not what we wanted to hear but if that's confirmed then he will have to have it scoped as soon as possible. The Varsity team is getting ready to play their first playoff game this Friday against Riverton and it really bums Carter out that he won't be playing another down this season. But after some long chats I told him he needs to find his place on the team in a different way. To be a leader, someone who puts their arm around a player having a tough day or the first one to give a fist pump after an awesome play. He took my words to heart and has done exactly that. As soon as we have confirmation though, I will write it here :) My favorite part of his season has been helping on the boosters. I have enjoyed SO MUCH being there every Friday to feed these guys! It's fun to see them interact with each other, see their excitement of what food we have managed to get, and to hear the coaches and their inspired words to these kids to motivate them. It's really been a joy! And if all goes as planned I will be in charge of these dinners along with another Mom next year! I am excited! And even though my guy won't be playing on Friday, we will still be there cheering on his friends and team mates. This team is really close, a brotherhood if you will, and I can't wait to see how far it will take them!!

Vroom Vroom.... here we go!!

Well after some "mechanic love", registration and testing and a bit of cleaning Carter's ride is now READY! He has already been driving it to and fro and is LOVING having his freedom!
I'm loving it too! It's so nice that he can get himself to school, practice, parties etc! He's my busiest kid and I'm glad that with his own wheels he can handle himself!
We didn't pay much at all for this truck and as I said before, it needed a bit of love, but all considered it's a pretty neat little truck! We did get him some seat covers for the front seats and some new floor mats, but other than that it looked pretty dang good!
I think one of his favorite parts is that it had a nice Pioneer radio deck in it with a USB plug so he can listen to his ipod! Life is good! Watch out peeps here comes Haley Honda!!! :) Yes he named it already! Love it!
