Summer vacation: Part 2

After our fantastic stay in St George we left there and drove straight to Lake Powell to meet up with Tom, Kathy and Dakota. They invited us down for a nearly week long trip on the lake and it was too good to be true! (And be ready because there is a TON of pictures!! This blog is my journal so I have to be thorough!)
We set off pretty much right when we got there to head out and find a camp for the night and then the plan was to hook up with Chan's Aunt and uncle and family the next day.
That next morning we heard from them and found out that their car had broke down and they were running late, so we went out to the middle of the bay and swam, rode wave runners and relaxed until they made it out there. Will and Dakota decided to be brave while we were out there bobbing around to jump off the top of the boat into the water. They did that over and over for quite a while until Will slipped and hit the side of the boat! OUCH! It wasn't a good moment! And he got quite the bruise!! He didn't do that the rest of the trip and I can't say as I blame him!
Then we were off again to find another camp further up the lake. The plan was to try and see rainbow bridge the following day, but we ran into some trouble. While looking for a camp we were coming out of a small inlet and hit a rock with the propellers! It was NOT a pleasant sound AT ALL! Scared all of us quite a bit, but thankfully aside from some very bent props, all was okay.
We ended up having to change plans and not go to see the bridge (since we couldn't go over 5 MPH due to the bent props) so we ended up staying at this camp site and just enjoying the lake!
It's so beautiful there that it really doesn't matter WHERE you are on it!
I mean seriously! This picture is GORGEOUS!!
We stayed at our camp and enjoyed the usual fun that we have on the lake! Even played a game that was new to us called Headbands- it was really fun! It's one I plan on buying and playing when friends come over. It's the perfect game because any age level can play!
Every night we would have these beautiful sunsets to watch, LOVE it!
Can't let a trip go buy without a TON of pictures! I love to do these action ones!
Jumping in!
Carter did a twist!
I was a little late on Will's!
Cousins are the BEST!!
This is a shot of Chan's Aunt Jill and Uncle Joe- they are so fun! Joe is so fun to be around because he can make so many different sound effects! He makes us laugh a ton!
Each evening we would prepare a meal on the boat and it's never lame food. We had some great grub! I even made oriental chicken wraps one night! The others we had everything from hamburgers to pulled pork! YUM!
Here's my cute hubby- he is like a little kid out on the lake! He loves to dunk the kids, ride the wave runners, pull the kids on the tube, wrestle and dunk them in the water etc, etc, etc! It was so good for him to escape the hectic work schedule and let loose!
This is a picture of some of the group night swimming! I'm not sure where the idea came from but we have been using glow sticks to night swim for years! We get the bracelets, necklaces etc from the dollar store and put them on our jackets or arms etc and then throw a few back and forth in the water. I took this while they were passing a couple... pretty cool right!
Here's a shot of Chan's Dad looking pretty tough I must say!
This is a good shot of the glow stick bracelets that Will made look extra cool on his life jacket!
Here's the few that stayed in the longest! They had fun!
This was a big trip for Carter because it was the first one where he could drive the wave runners all by himself! He LOVED it!
Carter got brave later in the trip and decided to try to jump off the top of the boat! I was shocked he actually did that!
Here's another shot of the night swimmers!
Another thing that happened this trip was that there were a TON of bugs! Way more than usual! They were kind of like a gnat but they would stick to the boat, so Chan and Brianne got some water guns and attacked the boat to get them off! Kathy also broke out the hose to get them too!

This is a picture of Jill and Joe's boat- it's name is Willie Blue.
This is a picture of one of the bent props! Pretty bad!! They both looked this way and we are still waiting to hear if one of the shafts is bent- Chan's pretty sure it is.
Brothers!
My cute Briannie!!
Loved this shot of Chan! He's a master of the swim belt! He can still dive under and come up on the kids and freak them out! Hee hee!
Carter loves to attack in the water too! He regularly wears Chan out!
Here is Will jumping off the top of the boat!
He was very proud of himself for doing that!
Brianne has not jumped off the top yet, but she loves to jump off the lower part into the water. She's our "princess fish"- she is in the water A LOT!!
Me and Brianne swimming!
Aren't they cute!
Me and Will!
Dakota was the bravest at jumping off the top- he even dove off of it!
This is my FAVORITE shot from the lake! This is Tom and Kathy and the grandkids! So cute right!!
This was a day when all the kids were swimming and goofing around and one of them decided that they should all get on the tube! So they got on one by one until they were ALL on there! SUCCESS! After this shot was taken it turned into a war of girls vs boys on who could keep control of the tube!
Being pulled on it is the favorite though!
My favorite thing on the boat.... relaxing! I even got to read a lot which I never get to do!
Me and Carter!
Will tried wake boarding this trip! He took a class a few years ago and has done it before, but this trip only got up for a few seconds :( Dakota got up a ton though and did great!!
Carter enjoying his wave runner freedom!
Chan took this while Brianne was driving the wave runner!
Gamma and Brianne!
Brianne and Will coming in after their ride on the tube!

This was one of the BEST boating trips ever! Even though we had to change plans and deal with a lot of "problems" it was so much fun! The Lake is just the BEST place to relax and have fun! Thanks again Tom and Kathy for a sweet vacation!

Summer vacation: Part 1

In July we had two weeks available (thanks to a heavy football schedule for Carter) to get away and relax. We had planned to go to Illinois to see my family, but when all the work related stuff happened we knew that wouldn't be possible. (which we were bummed about) but we figured we'd make the best of what we COULD do! So we planned a trip to St George!
As usual we stayed with Tammy (my BFF) and the first full day there we headed over to one of our favorite places- The Pasta Factory. Not long after Chan and I met he helped OPEN this place! So it's always a fun place for us to visit and this time the owner Brad was there and Chan enjoyed catching up with him. And as usual we talked about our fond memories there together!
We love their food and it was a fun way to start the trip! We went shopping for a bit after this and helped Tammy get some ceiling fans and get them installed on her back yard patio. It really helped stay cool while we were hanging out! We also got a few needed items for the kids for school.
One of the days we went to the new Washington City pool. This place was AWESOME!! It had a great pool, slide, play area/dump bucket and we had some serious fun there!
We were playing around with the camera- and not having fun at all as you can tell!
It also had this cool splash pad area with these water guns! The boy on the right in this picture is Tammy's Nephew- he came along to enjoy the pool too! Will is the one getting creamed in the middle! Hee hee!
On Sunday night we invited my Aunt Kay to come over and have dinner with us! We also went over to visit with her at her home one evening. She's fun to hang with and to talk to! We played a few games together and I have to say the favorite was catch phrase! LOVE that game!
One of the last things we did there was we all went to see the latest Harry Potter movie. I have to admit I was really just going for Chan (as were some of the kids) but we all REALLY liked it! Definitely the best one! (and yes the kids were not loving me for wanting to take this picture but I told them I needed it for my blog!)
But our favorite part of being there was just chilling at Tammy's house. We love it there! Seriously someday Chan and I want to have our own place there to go and escape to! A couple of the days while we were inside watching TV or relaxing Will and Brianne went out and played with the hose! I think Will enjoyed spraying his sister a little TOO much! They made a game out of it and did skits! It was hilarious!
Each morning Chan went out to get a drink and one morning decided to take the camera with him and got some great shots. The mountains here in this photo is one of my favorite views!
This is a shot of the St George Temple. I love how white it looks against the green and red in the landscape.
This is a shot of St George Boulevard from up on the bluff. I love this one too!
So thanks yet again Tammy for a fabulous getaway and for letting us let our hair down and truly relax! We can't wait to visit again!
