Football Update for week of September 13th

So this week Carter's team played Brighton and it was a very good game- a close one!!
Carter was in by the second quarter and was playing great! We are so proud!!
This is a shot of the team coming back to the field after the half.
I have been very impressed with the teams coaches. Carter has learned so much and improved A LOT!
Look at those lineman!! BIG GUYS!! :)
Considering that I am sitting in the bleachers these pics aren't bad! But I wish I could zoom in a bit more on his face! Maybe one of these days I will be brave enough to stand on the sidelines!
This number 58 guy was fast! Carter had a tough time keeping up with him! But he did a great job!!
I loved this one! I love the way his arms are out like "NONE SHALL PASS!!" It was a great win for them- a tight game- but those are my favorite kind!!
Will's team played West Jordan and these guys were BIG!
Once again.... LOVE these shots! I love that Carter wants to help his brother! And Will really listens to his advice too!
Will had a great game! The guy that he was up against was taller than I was! A very big kid! But he held his own!
Nothing like being on top of the pile!
Will is really becoming quite the player!!
Will also had an opportunity to play a bit of offense in this game as well! That's always fun!!
Go Will go!!! I also noticed that Will has a "walk" he does when he has his pads on- he kinda struts! It's hilarious! Such a tough guy!
Will's team had a squeaker game as well, but they pulled it out and won! NICE!
Here's the cheerleader!! Brianne is having so much fun at the games and has made some great friends!
GOOOOOO BRIANNE!!
She is not one to shy away from pictures!! And next week they will have an "A" embroidered on the top! So cute!
Here's a shot of all the girls! Aren't they cute!! And they did a great job at this game! I was proud!! :)
They went out at halftime and did a cheer - so dang cute!!
Nothing like a pyramid! You go girls!! So proud of Brianne and her willingness to support her brothers! Way to go Brianne!!!

My new job

So this year I decided to branch out a bit and try something new! I have added Recess Aide to my to do list!! Every Wednesday for two hours I go over to the elementary school to be the Recess Aide for the lunch recess. It's not a tough job at all, but it is fun and truthfully I just like being around the people there! A lot of them are my friends and I enjoy hob nobbing with them!

Last week while doing my duties I had a funny experience. I had three girls run over to me obviously upset and they started right in with it... "that boy over there said..." Okay so before I get into what he "said" what would YOUR guess be? The first thing to pop into my head was a swear word, so was I right? Well here's the full version..."that boy over there said the G word!!" I had to stop and think for a moment... is there a swear word with a G? Is there a racial slang with G? I must have looked puzzled because one of the girls finally said..."you know, dog spelled backwards." WOW- I do live in Utah!! Hilarious!! Most people hearing that wouldn't bat an eye, but here in the Utah valley saying such things is "offensive" and apparently is cause to run to the Aide for assistance! So what did I do? Well I had a little chat with them about being kind to others and having more tolerance of others. I said they could politely ask the person not to say that around them but if it slips to just let it go because they do know any better. It was a funny experience!! I can't wait to see what other stories will come from my "new job"!

What was that?

A few weeks ago Carter, his friend and I were driving in the car taking his friend home when we passed this sign. It is not far from our house and is right by a dip in the road so we have to drive slow while passing it. As we were driving by I hear Carter mumbling under his breath attempting to read it. He was trying to sound it out...
What he came out with made his friend and I laugh pretty dang hard! Instead of saying "whoa" as it reads he said "whooah" like they do in the military!! I haven't laughed that hard in a while!! It was hilarious! We go by that sign often so I had him jump out and take a picture with it- we live near people who have horse property and I am assuming that's why they have the sign.
I told Carter he must be a true "jock"! Only jocks can't read a four letter word right! Hahahaha!! I LOVE IT!!

Good-Bye "dino-pod"

So Will and I were in the car yesterday and he pulled out this i-pod from the console of the car and said, "How do you turn this on? It's not coming on!" I proceeded to tell him that it's no longer working and that it was his Dad's. He said, "I am not surprised this thing is a dinosaur!!" I laughed sooo hard! If he only knew! I don't know about you all- but I remember 8 tracks, cassettes, the "walkman", portable CD players etc, so THAT i-pod is HARDLY a dinosaur!! It just goes to show how far technology has come and how much technology our kids have seen and are familiar with! Hilarious!! So goodbye "dino-pod" and hello to it's more updated version!

Alta Sophomores vs Jordan

This past Thursday it was Carter's game vs Jordan! This is a BIGGIE! Another huge rivalry! So we all came along to watch and cheer!
I love watching Will and Brianne and how they cheer on their brother! we are a VERY supportive family and it's one of my favorite things!
Carter didn't go in until the 4th quarter but once he got in he stayed till it was over!
He's doing such a great job! He absolutely LOVES this game!!
This game he was up against another VERY tall opponent but handled himself great!
He has really jelled with his team which is a good thing because being "the Freshman" it isn't an easy thing to do! He and his fellow Freshman have become true friends and teammates!
This is a great shot- number 78 is the first string player Carter goes in for and he was telling Carter he did a good job.
It wasn't much of a game because once again it was pretty much a blowout! 49 to 7 WOW!! Go Hawks!!

Will's first game

This past Saturday it was Will's first game! They have done several scrimmages and that preseason game, but this was the big day! They played Murray Orange and funny enough one of our good friends from college was there and her son played for Murray! We ended up sitting and visiting and catching up which was so fun!

Will had a great game! He was as intense as he has ever been and even managed to get a sack in the 4th quarter! He was awarded two skull stickers for the front of his helmet from the coaches for it- it was a good one!
As usual Brianne brought her cheerleading self with her! I was impressed she wanted to wear her cheer outfit from last year! The girls had fun cheering them on!
Chan, Carter and Gamma and Papa were all there to cheer him on too! And I have to say it is going to be SO NICE to watch ALL our boys games together! These past few years we haven't been able to do that! So awesome!!
There were several times that he got into the backfield- this was one of those times he broke through the line :)
This shot is cool! Yes- that is the ball coming right for him and yes- he can see it coming, but no he didn't catch it! Bummer!!
It was a great day and a blowout win for Alta Crimson- they won 46 to 0! Way to go Will!!

My boys of fall and their cheerleader

These shots are some of my absolute favorite pictures!! This was taken last weekend right before Will's preseason game. I love that Chan gives them advice and makes them better players and I REALLY love that Carter likes to help and cheer his brother on. I tell him all the time that most brothers I see don't do that! It's awesome!
This year Will has been assigned to defense! I was surprised by that because Will isn't super aggressive. However, I have to say that Will is doing quite well! He got a GREAT tackle all on his own in this game! Bring it dude!!
Here he is shoving back the Olympus player!
Here's another favorite picture- Chan is giving Will a little sideline encouragement!
You can sure tell he is having fun right?!!
This year he didn't know many players on his team at all, but within just a few days he had made lots of new friends! In fact they already gave him a nickname "Noise" because of all the cool sound effects he can do!
This is one of my favorite things about Will when he plays- he is always yelling and cheering on his team! Most of the time it's because something another player has done! He is all about supporting his team! That and he is a ham!
Carter's team has had 2 games. The first was against their biggest rival Bingham which they won and last night they played Timp View and won that one as well 50 to 14!!
This is a shot of Carter as he went into the game last night- they got to play under the lights which Carter thought was way cool!
He loves to play and you can tell when you watch- this guy he was up against was pretty fast so he was tough!
Don't you just love the lineman stance! I have been watching them play so long that I love everything about it!
Carter played a great game! I was so proud! He had an AMAZING block that allowed for a great run for the offense! I was freaking out!! Made me tear up actually! This is him giving us a "Hi Mom" moment!
This shot reminds me of those posters of babies with jerseys on- it's a great team and some amazing kids.
This was taken right after the game and Chan was congratulating him on that awesome tackle! And I just have to point out the "steps" he had cut into his hair on the sides! Apparently most of the team got those- so of course he couldn't be left out!! :)
He's not only a great player but pretty darn handsome too! Way to go Carter!!
I have to say that given all the practices and games that Brianne is dragged to she usually has a smile on and a bag of gear to cheer on her brothers!
This is Brianne and some of the other "sisters" from Will's team. They took it upon themselves (with the help of a Mom) to cheer for the team!
Brianne looks so darling in her brother's old jerseys! This one she's wearing was Carter's first Alta jersey!
This is a shot of Brianne from last night. She brought her "spirit pack" which has a small megaphone, her beads, hand clappers and pom pom! She is very proud of her brothers! It's darling! Keep it coming Brianne we ALL love it! After the game last night we were all walking to the car and Brianne told Carter that he had done such a good job that tomorrow she wasn't going to bug him! I thought that was hilarious! Her own way of rewarding her brother! Pretty darn cute!
