Carter's Sophomore team's opener was against Bingham, their biggest rival! He knew this was going to be a tough one given they lost their starting quarterback to an ankle break and one of their star running backs to a broken collar bone. (Not the way to start a season!) And to top it off it was one of the HOTTEST days we have had all year! Almost 100 degrees and a storm rolled through as well so the air was thick.... YUCK!

It was a physically demanding game. These guys were very tough and both teams defense were playing hard.

The offensive line had it's struggles as well. The left side was always strong, but the right was a bit weaker, so they were having a hard time getting the ball moving.

Carter was playing really well and the team was pushing hard for the win. It was coming to the end and we were a touchdown shy of victory.

They drove hard down that field in the last minutes of the game and it looked like they just might pull it out! We were only 8 yards from the touchdown and the quarterback went to throw but there wasn't anyone open so he started to run..... then found an open receiver and threw but he had passed the line of scrimmage and it was no good. Such a bummer :(

The final score was 20 to 14 and it was a tough loss. They all knew they could have played better, but the good thing about losing is that sometimes it helps you learn more. The week after this game they practiced hard and made some changes too, so hopefully when faced with a new opponent they'll be ready this time! Nice job Carter! We're proud of you!

Tough loss. :( Especially to your rival! Bummer. I can't imagine playing football in 100 degree weather, either! Ouch.
